Who can register in the Main Library of PŚk?

Any reader can register in the library.

What do I need to register in the library?

To register in the library you only need a student ID.

How much does it cost to get a library card?

The library card is free.

Does the library card of the PŚk Library authorize the use of other libraries?
No. The card entitles the owner to use only and exclusively the collections of the PŚk Library.

I have lost my library card, what should I do?
The loss of a library card should be immediately reported to the Registration Point in order to block the loan account.

What can I need a library card for?

The library card is used to enter the library, borrow books, log in to a desktop computer in the library, log in to WiFi on your own mobile device, make photocopies, printouts and scans.

How can I check if the books/journals I am interested in are in the PŚk Library?
Information on this subject can be found in the computer catalogue of the PŚk Library. The catalogue can be searched in 3 ways:

  • Browsing
  • Simple search
  • Advanced Search

How many books can I borrow and for how long?

The number of borrowed books and the period for which they can be borrowed depend on the type of Reader’s card:

  • Categories of readers

What is the login and password for the library account?
The login to the library account is the library card number, and the password is the reader’s last name. The password should be entered in CAPITAL LETTERS, without special characters.

How to check the status of your library account?
Log in to the catalogue by entering your library card number and password, and then select the My Account tab.

How to extend the book loan period?
In person, by phone or by logging into your library account yourself. Renewals must be made before the book return deadline expires.

What happens if I don’t return the book on time?
You will be charged for keeping them. The fee for each day of keeping one book is PLN 0.20.

Can I borrow or return a book myself?
Yes, by SelfCheck device.

Can I share my library card with another person to borrow books for me?
No. The library card must not be shared with other people.

Can I borrow more books?
The reader may apply for an increase in the borrowing limit by completing the form available from the librarian on duty in the lending desk.

Can someone return my books for me?
Yes.

What can I do to not forget about the deadline for returning books?
Each reader has the option of entering his e-mail address in the library system, which causes the system to send automatic notifications about the approaching date of return of books.

If I don’t receive an email and return the books after the deadline, will I have to pay for the overdue books?
Yes. Lack of e-mail notification is not an argument exempting from fees for late return of books. You can check your account balance online and extend the refund period if necessary.

What to do if a book is lost?
It is necessary to buy back the same title that was lost (same or newer year of publication), and if this is not possible, it must be bought back with another book indicated by the librarian.

If I need a book, can the library buy it for the collection?

Yes, you need to send an e-mail with the order to the library address library@tu.kielce.pl.

ON-SITE USAGE

Can I use my own computer or mobile equipment (laptop, tablet) in the library?

Yes, you can use your own laptop or tablet.

Where can I connect my computer equipment?

Within the Library, there are designated points for readers where you can safely use your own computer equipment. They are marked with a legible sign with a drawing of an electrical socket. Any questions and problems related to the use of laptops in the Library should be reported to the librarian on duty each time.

Can I use WiFi in the Library?

Yes, there is a WiFi network in the Library.

How to log in to the WiFi network?

In order to connect to the WiFi network, you must enter the library card number and password. The password is the last name, capitalized, no special characters.

Are there any limits for using the WiFi network?

There are no limits on the connection time and the amount of data downloaded. The access point supports all current WiFi network standards and allows connection speeds of up to 108Mbps.

Where can magazines and journals be used?
Magazines and journals in the printed version from the last five years are made available on site in the Journals Division (top floor of the Library).

Can I borrow magazines or journals?
No. Most magazines and journals are available only on site.

SERVICES

Is it possible to photocopy books and magazines in the library?
Yes. You can photocopy fragments of magazines and books, within the limits provided for by copyright law. Self-service copiers are located in the Library, the fee for one A4 page is PLN 0.20.

How can I make photocopies?

Photocopies are made on self-service photocopiers using a library card, which should be topped up with money (coins) at the vending machine.

Where can I use licensed databases?
Licensed databases can be used throughout the university network (library, faculties, dormitories).

Is it possible to print my own materials?
Yes. The fee for one A4 page is PLN 0.40 (black and white printout) and PLN 0.80 (color printout).

Where can I scan the materials I need?
The self-service scanner is located in the library on the first floor, and the fee for scanning one A4 page is PLN 0.10.

If I have a problem using the Library, where can I get help?

You can turn to any librarian. We will do our best to help you.
